Meet The Team

Tammy

Practice Manager

From a very young age Tammy always knew she was destined to work in the veterinary medicine industry. She remembers catching garter snakes with her younger brother and bringing home countless baby birds, raccoons, skunks, and squirrels. Her first job was at 14, cleaning at a local vet clinic part time after school. As the years passed, she was very fortunate to work in multiple practices with very talented veterinarians, vet techs and assistants. Because of this she was able to gain a vast amount of knowledge. Now, after more than three decades, she still has the passion and love that she knew she was born to do. Tammy shares her home with her daughter and their Cocker Spaniel “Belle” and their Long Haired cat “Goose”.

Megan

Registered Veterinary Technician

Megan started out working in veterinary care in 2017 as a veterinary assistant while in school to become a veterinary technician. Megan graduated from Sheridan College’s veterinary technician program in the spring of 2019 and became a registered veterinary technician in the summer of 2019. With a special interest in exotic pets on top of small animal care, Megan worked in a hospital that saw many different small animal and exotic species for 5 years. Megan found her way to Burford Veterinary Hospital, and has a special interest in surgery and anesthesia, as well as pet nutrition. During the summer, Megan enjoys spending time on the beach at a family cottage, swimming and paddle boarding as much as possible, and in the winter, taking hikes with her Alaskan Malamutes.

Dawn

Client Care/Reception

Dawn has always enjoyed being around, owning, and helping animals since a young age. She started in the Animal Care course at Durham College and graduated in 2014. Over the years, she has had different experiences at a few different clinics as a receptionist and a veterinary assistant. Dawn has a Bernese Mountain Dog named Maverick, a Bearded Dragon named Meesha, and a Tortoise named Tyra. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her animals, friends and family completing many different activities, mainly outdoors.

Tori

Veterinary/Technician Assistant

Tori started her career path as a co-op student in 2016. After graduating high school, she was hired as a full-time veterinary assistant.  After 2 years, Tori left to explore other avenues and interests. Shortly after, she found her way back into the veterinary field and joined the team here at Burford Vet. Tori stays busy outside of work with her young daughter and rambunctious rescue puppy, “Tessa”.  She escapes the stress of work by relaxing with her friends and family. In the warmer weather Tori enjoys spending weekends at her family trailer. Her passion for veterinary medicine is obvious as Tori greets patients with a soft touch and warm smile.

Peyton

Veterinary/Technician Assistant

Peyton knew she wanted to be in the veterinary medicine industry her whole life. She did a co-op placement in 2019 and was hired on part time after completion of the program. In 2022 an opportunity arose, and she joined the Burford Vet Team. Peyton is currently studying animal biology at the University of Guelph. In her spare time, she enjoys back country camping, riding her motorcycle and spending time with her cat, “Willow Grace”.

Jess

Veterinary/Technician Assistant

Jess had dreamed of working with animals since she was a young girl and that dream came true in 2020.  She started at a busy small animal/emergency vet and at the same time was volunteering at a local shelter and a local behavioral rehabilitation rescue in Cincinnati, Ohio.  After moving back home to Canada she joined the Burford Veterinary Clinic team in January 2023.  Jess loves working with all different types of animals and their families and has a special place in her heart for our more socially challenged pups. In her free time she enjoys time with her family doing beach days, being on the boat, BBQ’s, sporting events and local festivals and events.

Mel

Client Care/Reception

As a child, Mel had always been surrounded by animals, from the pets in her family to the farm animals she saw at the stables when taking riding lessons. Over the years, her love of animals grew and developed into a passion for animal care. Mel began her career in this field through her high school co-op, working at a pet supplies store as a sales associate. Wanting to learn more about the industry, she chose to work at a local Veterinary Hospital before enrolling in university. Mel graduated and received her Veterinary Medical Office Administration Certificate from the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus in 2012. Since then, she has continued working in several veterinary and grooming companies, eventually making her way to become part of the Burford Veterinary Hospital team. In her spare time, Mel enjoys spending time with her cats, Atreus and Avocato, her family and her friends. She also enjoys playing board games, snowboarding in the winter, or going camping and hiking in the summer.

Carol

Groomer

If your fur baby needs a spa day, look no further than our very own groomer Carol! Born and raised in the country, Carol always had an interest in taking care of animals of all types, often bringing them home with her. She started out as a vet assistant but realized that grooming was her calling. After 20 years in the business, we are lucky to have Carol working alongside us at the Burford Veterinary Hospital. In her downtime, Carol enjoys spending time with her horses, her dogs, and grandbabies.
